Lifeguard Training Programs - Lifeguard Training - Spring The purpose of the American Red Cross Lifeguarding course is to provide entry-level lifeguard participants with the knowledge and skills to prevent, recognize and respond to aquatic emergencies and to provide care for breathing and cardiac emergencies, injuries and sudden illnesses until emergency medical services personnel take over.To enroll in the Lifeguard course, you must be at least 15 years old before the last scheduled class session. To participate in the course, you must be able to pass a prerequisite skills evaluation that includes the following:Two Distance/Times Events
Swim freestyle or breaststroke 150 yards, tread water without using arms for 2 minutes, swim 50 yards. Goggles may be used.
Swim 20 yards, do a surface dive to depth of 7-10 feet, retrieve a 10-pound diving brick from the bottom and return to the surface, swim 20 yards holding the brick at the surface, then climb out of the pool. Goggles may not be used.

Great for all ages and anyone interested in riding a skateboard. This camp will include instruction for beginners such as riding the board, board control, and balance. As participants advance, instructors will teach flat ground tricks and hitting the ramps. Based on skill level, they will work up to ollies and other fun tricks! Grr…Buzz…Hiss…Roar Art-VenturesAnimal lovers and art explorers, take a walk on the wild side. Visit the jungle, go on safari, and even travel back in time to the Dinosaurs. Discover where your creativity will take you while creating 2 and 3-dimensional butterflies, birds, snakes, frogs and lizards, lions, and countless other kooky creatures! Paint 3-D wooden dinosaur puzzles, build giraffe pencil holders, and create super cool boxes disguised as elephants. Plus, design your very own animal t-shirt using a totally unique “hands-on” technique, and so much more! Campers use an amazing variety of art materials, textures and techniques while experimenting with clay and paints, ceramic and fabric art, wood, oil pastels, stenciling, collage, watercolor, decoupage and more. These cool and playful ART-ventures include fun facts about the animals, storytelling, and always humor.Secret Agent LabThis program features fun-filled, hands-on, secret agent-themed science activities that allow kids to play detective, explore forensic science, sharpen their surveillance skills, and crack encrypted messages. Please observe all posted signage and safety guidelines upon entering the park. Below is the guidelines posted at the park. Lessons and Camps are open to both Residents and Non-Residents. Skate LessonsBeginner Skate Lessons (9:00 a.m. - 9:45 a.m.)(Skateboarders ONLY ages 5-7 years old)New skaters or those with limited ability are taught basic skills including balance, position, stopping, turning, falling techniques and safety. All skaters MUST wear helmets. Our programs are designed to give each child a positive introduction into sports while fostering a lifelong love for an active, healthy lifestyle. Our patient and knowledgeable staff use a variety of skill-building games and activities to give each athlete a complete understanding and overview of the sport. Since 1979 Skyhawks has taught over one million boys and girls life lessons through sports.Multi-Sport Tots: Introduce your little superstar to sports in our most popular program! This soccer & baseball class uses age-appropriate games and activities to explore balance, hand/eye coordination, fitness, sport skills and child development. Parent participation required for ages 2-3.5 years.Hoopster Tots: Learning basketball has never been more fun! These classes focus on dribbling, shot technique, passing and teamwork. Skyhawks Pre-School Programs - 2 & 3 Year Old 10:00 a.m. Class Skyhawks provides a wide variety of fun, safe and positive programs that emphasize critical lessons in sports and life, such as teamwork, respect and sportsmanship. Our programs are designed to give each child a positive introduction into sports while fostering a lifelong love for an active, healthy lifestyle. Our patient and knowledgeable staff use a variety of skill-building games and activities to give each athlete a complete understanding and overview of the sport. Since 1979 Skyhawks has taught over one million boys and girls life lessons through sports.Multi-Sport Tots: Introduce your little superstar to sports in our most popular program! This soccer & baseball class uses age-appropriate games and activities to explore balance, hand/eye coordination, fitness, sport skills and child development. Parent participation required for ages 2-3.5 years.Hoopster Tots: Learning basketball has never been more fun! These classes focus on dribbling, shot technique, passing and teamwork. Adjustable hoops and appropriately-sized basketballs are used to always provide just the right amount of challenge.
