These classes will be held at the pickleball courts adjacent the Riverfront Community Center and Addison Park tennis courts.Lessons are for adult only ages 18 and up. There will are also classes specifically for age 60 and up.Beginner ClassesParticipants will learn how to effectively hit the ball, maintain a rally, keep score, the rules and basic game play. At the end of the session, participants will have a basic understanding of the game and be able to start playing pickle ball.Advance Beginner ClassesShould have completed the Beginner class or know how to volley, dink, serve understand the rules and court layout.Intermediate ClassesPlay to learn format where participants will be introduced to a new skill each class. There truly is something for EVERYONE! CLASS DESCRIPTIONSTrail Explorers(Grades K-5)Come explore the outdoors and make nature-loving friends as we hike at JB Williams, Blackledge Falls, and more! Each week we will hike at a different Glastonbury park while practicing trail navigation, searching for natural wonders and enjoying the changing seasons. Participants will receive a schedule of locations prior to the first week of the class, including suggestions for weather-appropriate clothing since this program meets rain or shine!Aspiring Young Engineers (Engineering Imagination)(Grades 2-5) **Location Changed from Brochure**This program is a wide-ranging exploration of our unique, customized S.T.E.A.M. (Science, Technology, Engineering, Architecture, Mathematics) curriculum! Using a variety of teaching mediums, students will explore the real-world application of S.T.E.A.M. concepts and terminology through hands-on, minds-on activities. With activities ranging from model roller coasters, to LEGO® engineering challenges, to bridge building, participants are sure to have a blast while learning along the wayEngineering FUNdamentals (Engineering Imagination)(Grades K-2)In this engineering fundamentals program, students will learn from a customized S.T.E.A.M. Drip, drip a little paint as you spot organic shapes in the USA, have perspective on the cliffs of Spain, find animals made from recycled materials in Portugal, and be surprised as artworks pop up throughout the streets of the United Kingdom. Tag a fence or doodle your way into a discovery of drawing, painting, collage, relief sculpture and much more.Skyhawks Sports and Games(Grades 1-4)Skyhawks provides a wide variety of fun, safe and positive programs that emphasize critical lessons in sports and life, such as teamwork, respect and sportsmanship. Our programs are designed to give each child a positive introduction into sports while fostering a lifelong love for an active, healthy lifestyle. For this program, our patient and knowledgeable staff use a variety of skill-building games and activities to give each athlete a complete understanding and overview of many different popular sports and games.  Sports and games include capture the flag, soccer, ultimate frisbee, basketball, kickball, baseball, 4 square, flag football, team handball and many more. Kids will play 2-4 different games/sports each day.Skyhawks Mini Hawk(Ages 4 - 6)This multi-sport program was developed to give children a positive first step into athletics. Sports are taught in a safe, structured environment filled with encouragement and fun. Through exciting games and activities, campers explore balance, hand/eye coordination and skill development at their own pace. STEM Workshop SeriesBattle-Tracks! (Grades 2-5) Battle-Tracks is a fan-favorite where students build and battle customized vehicles! From modifying and amending the vehicles, to battling opponents, this activity is an intense engineering challenge! Using a combination of jousting and motorized monorails, this exciting activity is beloved by all who enter the arena!Conveyor Belt Contraptions!(Grades 2-5) **Location Changed from Brochure**We may take it for granted, but conveyor belts are important machines that make everyday life more efficient and easier for us! From placing an order on Amazon, to checking out at the grocery store, conveyor belts are all around us. Students will learn about, plan, and build their own customized LEGO® TECHNIC® conveyor belts as well as work in small groups to build structures such as factories, airports and recycling centers!

Our programs are designed to give each child a positive introduction into sports while fostering a lifelong love for an active, healthy lifestyle. Pirate CruiseJoin Glastonbury Parks & Recreation and Slip-A-Way tours on the high seas (aka Connecticut River) for a Pirate Adventure. We’ll hunt for treasure and sing pirate songs on a 45 minute cruise on a 30 foot pontoon boat.  Registration includes spot for one child and one adult.  If you wish to bring a second child you may register for a maximum of one additional child.  Registration for Under the Sea, Summer Picnic and Beach Party begins on Tuesday, March 10th.

Participants will receive a schedule of locations prior to the first week of the class, including suggestions for weather-appropriate clothing since this program meets rain or shine!Aspiring Young Engineers (Engineering Imagination)(Grades 2-5) **Location Changed from Brochure**This program is a wide-ranging exploration of our unique, customized S.T.E.A.M. (Science, Technology, Engineering, Architecture, Mathematics) curriculum! Drip, drip a little paint as you spot organic shapes in the USA, have perspective on the cliffs of Spain, find animals made from recycled materials in Portugal, and be surprised as artworks pop up throughout the streets of the United Kingdom. Tag a fence or doodle your way into a discovery of drawing, painting, collage, relief sculpture and much more.Skyhawks Sports and Games(Grades 1-4)Skyhawks provides a wide variety of fun, safe and positive programs that emphasize critical lessons in sports and life, such as teamwork, respect and sportsmanship. Our programs are designed to give each child a positive introduction into sports while fostering a lifelong love for an active, healthy lifestyle. For this program, our patient and knowledgeable staff use a variety of skill-building games and activities to give each athlete a complete understanding and overview of many different popular sports and games.  Sports and games include capture the flag, soccer, ultimate frisbee, basketball, kickball, baseball, 4 square, flag football, team handball and many more. Kids will play 2-4 different games/sports each day.Skyhawks Mini Hawk(Ages 4 - 6)This multi-sport program was developed to give children a positive first step into athletics. Sports are taught in a safe, structured environment filled with encouragement and fun. Through exciting games and activities, campers explore balance, hand/eye coordination and skill development at their own pace. STEM Workshop SeriesBattle-Tracks! (Grades 2-5) Battle-Tracks is a fan-favorite where students build and battle customized vehicles! From modifying and amending the vehicles, to battling opponents, this activity is an intense engineering challenge! Using a combination of jousting and motorized monorails, this exciting activity is beloved by all who enter the arena!Conveyor Belt Contraptions!(Grades 2-5) **Location Changed from Brochure**We may take it for granted, but conveyor belts are important machines that make everyday life more efficient and easier for us! From placing an order on Amazon, to checking out at the grocery store, conveyor belts are all around us. Students will learn about, plan, and build their own customized LEGO® TECHNIC® conveyor belts as well as work in small groups to build structures such as factories, airports and recycling centers!

Adult lessons are being offered outdoors on Saturday mornings. These classes will be held at the pickleball courts adjacent the Riverfront Community Center and Addison Park tennis courts.Lessons are for adult only ages 18 and up. There will are also classes specifically for age 60 and up.Beginner ClassesParticipants will learn how to effectively hit the ball, maintain a rally, keep score, the rules and basic game play. At the end of the session, participants will have a basic understanding of the game and be able to start playing pickle ball.Advance Beginner ClassesShould have completed the Beginner class or know how to volley, dink, serve understand the rules and court layout.Intermediate ClassesPlay to learn format where participants will be introduced to a new skill each class. Strong emphasis on “playing the kitchen line”, effective serving, non-volley transition, drop shots, etc. NOTE: All participants must provide their own pickleball paddle.PLEASE NOTE THAT THE FORMAT OF THIS CLASS HAS CHANGED FROM A 3-WEEK SESSION TO A 6-WEEK SESSION. There truly is something for EVERYONE! CLASS DESCRIPTIONSTrail Explorers(Grades K-5)Come explore the outdoors and make nature-loving friends as we hike at JB Williams, Blackledge Falls, and more! Each week we will hike at a different Glastonbury park while practicing trail navigation, searching for natural wonders and enjoying the changing seasons. Participants will receive a schedule of locations prior to the first week of the class, including suggestions for weather-appropriate clothing since this program meets rain or shine!Aspiring Young Engineers (Engineering Imagination)(Grades 2-5) **Location Changed from Brochure**This program is a wide-ranging exploration of our unique, customized S.T.E.A.M. (Science, Technology, Engineering, Architecture, Mathematics) curriculum! Using a variety of teaching mediums, students will explore the real-world application of S.T.E.A.M. concepts and terminology through hands-on, minds-on activities. With activities ranging from model roller coasters, to LEGO® engineering challenges, to bridge building, participants are sure to have a blast while learning along the wayEngineering FUNdamentals (Engineering Imagination)(Grades K-2)In this engineering fundamentals program, students will learn from a customized S.T.E.A.M. (Science, Technology, Engineering, Architecture, Mathematics) curriculum while having FUN! The primary medium used for these classes is LEGO® TECHNIC. We find that with kids of all ages, especially the younger ones, LEGO® is an attractive, efficient teaching medium. From the creativity and enjoyment encouraged by LEGO®, students always enjoy themselves while learning essential engineering terms and concepts along the way! Marvelous Mixed Media(Grades 3-5)Get ready to create unique masterpieces while having a blast! Students will experiment with a variety of mediums and techniques including acrylic paint, watercolors, colored pencils, crayons, oil pastels, and construction paper. We’ll use a combination of drawing, painting, and collaging techniques to make faux stained glass, paper mosaics, self-portrait collages, and zentangle. With our supplied music, our signature Hoopla Hoops, and our special BringtheHoopla spin on traditional Hula Hooping, our Program promises to deliver a memorable experience!NASA Space & Beyond (Mad Science)(Grades K-5)This program is part of our NASA and Mad Science collaboration aimed at educating the next generation. Children will go on a voyage of discovery with unique hands-on activities and amazing demonstrations that explore the sun, stars, space technology, rocket science, the atmosphere, planets and moons, exoplanets, exobiology, and more.Urban Artists (Abrakadoodle)(Grades K-5)Walk in the shoes of an Urban Artist while touring public spaces and artist styles from around the world! Drip, drip a little paint as you spot organic shapes in the USA, have perspective on the cliffs of Spain, find animals made from recycled materials in Portugal, and be surprised as artworks pop up throughout the streets of the United Kingdom. Tag a fence or doodle your way into a discovery of drawing, painting, collage, relief sculpture and much more.Skyhawks Sports and Games(Grades 1-4)Skyhawks provides a wide variety of fun, safe and positive programs that emphasize critical lessons in sports and life, such as teamwork, respect and sportsmanship. Our programs are designed to give each child a positive introduction into sports while fostering a lifelong love for an active, healthy lifestyle. For this program, our patient and knowledgeable staff use a variety of skill-building games and activities to give each athlete a complete understanding and overview of many different popular sports and games.  Sports and games include capture the flag, soccer, ultimate frisbee, basketball, kickball, baseball, 4 square, flag football, team handball and many more. Kids will play 2-4 different games/sports each day.Skyhawks Mini Hawk(Ages 4 - 6)This multi-sport program was developed to give children a positive first step into athletics. Sports are taught in a safe, structured environment filled with encouragement and fun. Through exciting games and activities, campers explore balance, hand/eye coordination and skill development at their own pace. STEM Workshop SeriesBattle-Tracks! (Grades 2-5) Battle-Tracks is a fan-favorite where students build and battle customized vehicles! From modifying and amending the vehicles, to battling opponents, this activity is an intense engineering challenge! Using a combination of jousting and motorized monorails, this exciting activity is beloved by all who enter the arena!Conveyor Belt Contraptions!(Grades 2-5) **Location Changed from Brochure**We may take it for granted, but conveyor belts are important machines that make everyday life more efficient and easier for us! From placing an order on Amazon, to checking out at the grocery store, conveyor belts are all around us. Students will learn about, plan, and build their own customized LEGO® TECHNIC® conveyor belts as well as work in small groups to build structures such as factories, airports and recycling centers!

Drip, drip a little paint as you spot organic shapes in the USA, have perspective on the cliffs of Spain, find animals made from recycled materials in Portugal, and be surprised as artworks pop up throughout the streets of the United Kingdom. Tag a fence or doodle your way into a discovery of drawing, painting, collage, relief sculpture and much more.Skyhawks Sports and Games(Grades 1-4)Skyhawks provides a wide variety of fun, safe and positive programs that emphasize critical lessons in sports and life, such as teamwork, respect and sportsmanship. Our programs are designed to give each child a positive introduction into sports while fostering a lifelong love for an active, healthy lifestyle. For this program, our patient and knowledgeable staff use a variety of skill-building games and activities to give each athlete a complete understanding and overview of many different popular sports and games.  Sports and games include capture the flag, soccer, ultimate frisbee, basketball, kickball, baseball, 4 square, flag football, team handball and many more. Kids will play 2-4 different games/sports each day.Skyhawks Mini Hawk(Ages 4 - 6)This multi-sport program was developed to give children a positive first step into athletics. Sports are taught in a safe, structured environment filled with encouragement and fun. Through exciting games and activities, campers explore balance, hand/eye coordination and skill development at their own pace. STEM Workshop SeriesBattle-Tracks! (Grades 2-5) Battle-Tracks is a fan-favorite where students build and battle customized vehicles! From modifying and amending the vehicles, to battling opponents, this activity is an intense engineering challenge! Using a combination of jousting and motorized monorails, this exciting activity is beloved by all who enter the arena!Conveyor Belt Contraptions!(Grades 2-5) **Location Changed from Brochure**We may take it for granted, but conveyor belts are important machines that make everyday life more efficient and easier for us! From placing an order on Amazon, to checking out at the grocery store, conveyor belts are all around us. Students will learn about, plan, and build their own customized LEGO® TECHNIC® conveyor belts as well as work in small groups to build structures such as factories, airports and recycling centers!
